With Miss Maggie starting Kindergarten this year, I had been thinking about buying her a tablet to continue her learning and have fun too. When the MomSelect team offered to let us try out the new Leap Frog LeapPad 3 – I checked it out and knew it was a perfect fit for Maggie.
We are a Leap Frog family, owning many of their products – so I was excited to get our hands on the new LeapPad 3. When Maggie came home from her first day of school, the LeapPad 3 was waiting for her and she was ecstatic.
Accessible
We have a lot of cartridges from our previous LeapPad, I was thrilled to see that those cartridges are compatible with the new LeapPad3. The new tablet also comes with ten built-in apps – plus, I was surprised to see it let us choose an app for free when we registered the device too.
Rechargeable Battery
There’s no need to worry about batteries! I plug in the device each night when Maggie goes to bed and it’s always ready for the next day. The LeapPad3 comes with an AC adapter and you can also charge it via USB too.
Strong and Sturdy
The LeapPad3 seems to have much more padding than previous models. It has a shock-absorbing frame and the screen is pretty thick too. In true toddler fashion, Molly splashed a drink all over the screen after a few days – I jumped into action with a wipe and had no trouble cleaning it right up. Good as new!
Wifi Capabilities
Kids can use the built-in LeapSearch to access age-appropriate videos when the Wifi is turned on. I was uneasy about this at first, but it works great and Maggie loves having the freedom to explore too.
Through the parental conrols, I can access the Wifi and add/replace and delete apps to her device without even having to connect it to my PC via a USB. It’s all available via the device using Wifi. It’s easy for parents to update it with little fuss. This may be my favorite option – the easier, the better!
Parental Controls
I’m pretty strict when it comes to parental controls. I like to keep track of Maggie’s progress and see how much she’s playing too. The Parental controls are accessed via a four digit code – it’s very secure. I am the only one that has access to the Wifi capabilities. I even signed up to receive updates on how she’s progressing too.
What’s your favorite feature of the Leap Frog LeapPad 3?
